Comedy isn’t just about being funny.
Stand-up comedians learn how to hold a room, communicate an idea clearly, think on their feet, understand an audience, recover when something goes wrong and deliver with confidence.
Those are pretty useful skills outside a comedy club too.
Comedy Train brings the techniques used by professional comedians into workplaces, conferences, away days and corporate events.
Our practical, interactive sessions can help your team become more confident communicators, stronger presenters and more creative collaborators — while giving them an experience considerably more memorable than another afternoon looking at PowerPoint slides.
Comedy Train workshops use exercises from stand-up, improvisation, comedy writing and live performance to develop real-world workplace skills.
Sessions can be designed around:
Presentation Skills
Learn how performers command attention, structure ideas and communicate confidently to a room.
Pitching & Persuasion
Explore how comedians quickly establish a premise, make an audience care and communicate complicated ideas simply.
Confidence & Public Speaking
Build confidence speaking in front of other people in a supportive environment where experimentation is encouraged.
Thinking on Your Feet
Improvisation exercises help participants become more comfortable responding to unexpected situations without freezing.
Teamwork & Communication
Good improvisation relies on listening, supporting other people’s ideas and building something together — exactly the skills effective teams need.
Creative Thinking
Comedy encourages people to make unusual connections, challenge assumptions and approach familiar problems from completely different directions.
Storytelling
Learn techniques comedians use to turn information into stories people actually want to listen to.
Audience Awareness
Great communication isn’t simply about what you want to say. It’s about understanding the people you’re saying it to.
Handling Pressure & Mistakes
Live performers occasionally get things wrong. The important skill is learning how to recover, adapt and keep going.
Nobody needs to be a comedian.
And nobody is going to be unexpectedly dragged onto a stage and told to “be funny.”
Our workshops are practical, supportive and designed to get people participating at a level they’re comfortable with.
A typical session might include exercises in:
improvisation and active listening;
storytelling;
presenting ideas;
communicating information clearly;
building confidence in front of a group;
generating ideas quickly;
collaboration and group problem-solving;
understanding audiences;
finding humour and personality within communication.
The emphasis isn’t on creating professional comedians.
It’s about taking the skills comedians develop and applying them to professional communication.
Every organisation is different.
We can build sessions around the skills your team actually needs rather than delivering the same workshop to everybody.
That might be:
A one-hour conference workshop
A half-day team development session
A full-day corporate training programme
An away-day activity
Presentation or pitching training
Creative-thinking workshops
Confidence and public-speaking training
Improvisation-based team development
Or something completely bespoke.
Tell us what you want your team to become better at and we’ll design the session around it.
Whether you’re looking for a memorable team-building session, better presentation skills, a creative conference workshop or an experienced MC to host your event, we’d love to hear what you’re planning.

Because the best communicators and the best comedians have more in common than you might think.
Both need to:
understand their audience;
communicate an idea clearly;
hold people’s attention;
tell compelling stories;
respond to unexpected situations;
project confidence;
listen;
adapt;
and ultimately…
make people want to keep listening.
We teach those skills through comedy.
Comedy Train can also provide experienced professional comedians and facilitators for corporate events.
